Josh Duhamel returns to flooded hometown

Actor Josh Duhamel, who stars in Transformers: Dark of the Moon, was in Russia promoting the film when his hometown of Minot, North Dakota was flooded by the Souris River in June. About 11,000 people were evacuated and 4,100 houses and hundreds of businesses were damaged and/or destroyed. Duhamel’s childhood home, as well as the house where his sister lived with her family, were severely damaged. “It’s unbelievable how much devastation a flood like this does,” Duhamel told AP. As the honorary chairman of the Minot Area Community Foundation Recovery Fund, Duhamel, 38, has set up a benefit concert for this Saturday at the State Fairgrounds, starring The Black Eyed Peas, whose lead singer is his wife, Fergie. He’ll attend the concert as well as visit flood victims and a Red Cross shelter today. They’re hoping to raise more than $5 million from the concert in order to buy the material for people who need to rebuild their homes. “Everybody will get an equal amount, rich or poor,” Duhamel said.

Why does he want to help out rich people? I understand helping people who can’t afford to rebuild, but if flood victims are rich and can afford it, why would they be getting charity money?

Probably because like women, and minorities, everyone should be treated equally? Well, I’m assuming that’s where his logic is under these circumstances.

whats classified as rich? whats classified as poor? good on him for keeping all things equal no matter your income, if only more organizations followed suit!

Yeah, Gregg and The Truth, all the money that goes to helping starving Africans should also be going to feed the rich Africans too. Let’s keep everything equal! This doofus wouldn’t get one cent of my money if he’s giving it to rich people. Most donated money comes from the middle class, who can barely afford to part with it themselves. Very few people would donate money knowing it’s going to people with more money in their pockets than they have or ever will have. That’s just stupid.

Here’s someone who’s doing something to help those less fortunate, and you are criticizing him? What are you doing to help the less fortunate in your community?!?! Sheesh!
