Jurassic World overtakes Avengers as third highest-grossing movie ever

Jurassic World has been in the top 10 at the box office since it came out seven weeks ago (including three weeks in first place, two weeks in second) and it has now taken a large step in history, overtaking The Avengers as the third highest-grossing movie of all time. In response, Robert Downey Jr. tweeted the photo above, in which a photo of Chris Pratt fighting off dinosaurs in Jurassic World has been melded with one from the Avengers movie.

The Avengers grossed $1.52 billion dollars worldwide. Over the weekend Jurassic World surpassed it when it earned $1.54 billion dollars worldwide.

As of right now Jurassic World is on pace to potentially overtake the second spot, held by Titanicwhich made $2.18 billion and possibly even the first spot, Avatarwhich made $2.79 billion worldwide.

This year has proven to be massive for movie fans as three of the top six films on the all-time worldwide movie grosses chart have come out this year. Besides Jurassic World taking third spot, Furious 7, which has earned $1.51 billion has taken the fifth spot and in sixth is Avengers: Age Of Ultron, which has earned $1.39 billion. ~Greg Chisholm
