Justin Bieber in Toronto – exclusive pics!

Justin Bieber was at Toronto’s Fairmont Royal York Hotel yesterday to promote his debut film Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, which opens February 11. The press conference was scheduled to begin at 2 p.m., but Justin didn’t make his appearance until 45 minutes later. Once he and his entourage were seated, he looked around the room and noting an absence of deafening screams, asked, “Where are my fans?” Although the location of the press conference had been kept secret, a group of approximately 25 to 30 teenage girls were waiting outside the room. Justin demanded: “Let’s bring them in! I love you guys with cameras and stuff, but what’s the point if my fans aren’t here?” He then hummed the theme from Rocky as they entered, then shouted, “Everyone give it up for my fans!”
When asked what the first moment was that he realized he was famous, Justin replied, “I don’t know if I… I still don’t really notice it. I’m still just a regular teenage boy, living my dream, having a lot of fun.” He went on to talk about the movie, saying a lot of people will be surprised to find they like it, because, whether or not they like him, “it’s a pretty good movie. If they see this movie, and they see I’m just a regular kid, just a nice person, a lot of people think I’m some factory machine and people put me together like a product, but I worked really hard to get here and there’s so many people who have helped me.”
The film’s director, Jon Chu, told reporters that he was provided with hours of home videos of Justin to include in the movie, saying, “His mother shot him since he was little.” Justin joked, “Not literally shot. Filmed.”
He told fans what kind of junk food he likes: “A year ago, I was all about Sour Patch Kids. Those are the greatest things. But then my fans kept bringing them to every show. Now, if I eat another Sour Patch kid, I’m probably going to throw up.” He described the type of candy he likes now: “In Canada, they’re Bigfoots, in America, they’re Swedish Fish. But you know, Canada is better, obviously.” He added, “Ketchup chips are good. I love them.”
Talking about what he misses most when not at home, he said, “I miss Tim Horton’s. I miss Timmy’s. I miss my ice caps. I miss my friends and family. I miss my dog Sam.” He said he misses his grandparents, because he used to go to their house every day after school. There’s a scene in the movie in which his grandmother tells him to clean his room. Does Justin Bieber really have to clean his room? He explained, “Yeah, I clean my room. That day I was kinda just rushed out, and I forgot. but I do clean my room. Especially when I’m home at my grandma’s house. When she tells me to do something I’m like, ‘Okay, grandma!’”
The press conference wrapped up with questions from the fans, including the one every “Belieber” holds her breath for, waiting to hear the answer: “Would you ever marry a fan?” Justin said he gets asked that at least once a day, but: “The answer is, never say never, right?” ~Article and photos by Alexandra Heilbron
