Caroline Gonzales, 11, was made “mayor of the day” in her hometown of Forney, Texas after winning a city Facebook contest that was meant to boost young people’s interest in municipal government. As her first executive decision in office, Caroline decided to temporarily rename Main Street “Justin Bieber Way.” When asked by E! Online why she renamed the street, she simply said, “Because I really like Justin Bieber. I like his music and I like him. And I thought, why not have a street in my home town named after my favorite singer?” Unfortunately, less than 48 hours later, the sign, which was supposed to stay up until the weekend, was stolen. Caroline’s father Tony said his daughter was quite upset when he gave her the news. “They’ve definitely stolen some joy from her. Her eyes got watery,” he told ABC News. The town’s real mayor, Darren Rozell, has promised to replace the sign, saying, “It may be someone’s idea of a joke. But we’re not going to leave this little girl’s summer on a sour note.” The sign, which has a value of $30.22, will be replaced at 4 p.m. this afternoon.
