Kanye West charged over photographer altercation

Rapper Kanye West has been charged with misdemeanor battery and attempted grand theft by prosecutors over an altercation with a photographer. Los Angeles City Attorney spokesman Frank Mateljan said the alleged altercation took place on July 19, as Kanye was surrounded by several celebrity photographers at Los Angeles International Airport. The photographer claims Kanye attacked him and Mateljan says the rapper also attempted to take his camera from him. Kanye’s arraignment is scheduled for October 10 in Los Angeles. Each demeanor carries a penalty of up to six months in jail or a $1,000 fine. Kanye has become the subject of increased media attention after his relationship with reality TV star Kim Kardashian became public. The couple welcomed a newborn baby girl, named North West, in June. ~Raj-Kabir Birk
