Kanye West ruins Taylor Swift’s VMA win

Taylor Swift, 19, was onstage accepting the award for Best Female Video at the MTV Video Music Awards last night when she was interrupted mid-speech by Kanye West. He grabbed the microphone out of her hands, saying, “Yo Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’ma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time! One of the best videos of all time!” He then handed the microphone back to Taylor, who stood there unable to speak, looking shocked, as did Beyoncé, who was in the audience. Moments earlier, Taylor had been thrilled, telling the crowd, “Thank you so much! I always dreamed about what it would be like to maybe win one of these someday but I never actually thought that would happen.” Swift told People.com that her moment had been ruined, saying, “I was standing on stage and I was really excited because I’d just won the award and then I was really excited because Kanye West was on stage,” she said. “And then I wasn’t excited anymore after that.” Beyoncé called Taylor back up on stage later in the show so the teen could make her acceptance speech.
