Kate McKinnon wins Emmy, gets congratulatory Tweet from Hillary Clinton

Kate McKinnon has good reason to be celebrating today.

The 32-year-old comedian and Ghostbusters‘ star was named Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series at the Emmys on Sunday night for her hilarious work on SNL, which includes impersonating Ellen DeGeneres and Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. During her (tearful) acceptance speech, she thanked SNL chief Lorne Michaels and her fellow sketch comedy writers, but then also gave credit to the women who provided her with such great material.

Kate said, “Thank you, Ellen DeGeneres. Thank you, Hillary Clinton.”

To cement her gratitude for Hillary in particular, she reiterated, “Thank you, Hillary Clinton.”

Kate’s appreciation for the presidential nominee didn’t go unnoticed. Hillary showed her support and posted a congratulatory Tweet with a GIF of the comedian in character.

Portraying Hillary has become a signature of Kate’s as she frequently steps into the role during SNL‘s “cold open” segments. In October 2015, Hillary even appeared alongside Kate in a surprise cameo as a bartender.

With her victory, Kate became the first performer to snag a Supporting Performance Emmy for SNL in the show’s 41-year history.
