Kate Middleton goes grocery shopping

By Alexandra Heilbron on May 6, 2011 | 18 Comments

A week after she walked the down at Westminster Abbey with the eyes of the world upon her, Kate Middleton went grocery shopping near the home she and Prince William rent on the island of Anglesey. Kate, who was accompanied by bodyguards, chatted with a supermarket employee after returning her empty shopping cart to the store once she’d loaded her groceries into her Audi A3. An onlooker told the Daily Mail: “It looked like she was stocking up on the basics, but she also bought a few special items, so perhaps she was preparing their first romantic meal as a married couple. She loaded all the shopping into her car on her own, then skipped as she ran the trolley back to the park. She looked very happy and was smiling at people. Most people didn’t even spot who it was, despite her being probably the most famous person in the world at the moment.”

Wow, what a headline. But on a side note, I read it and now commenting on it lol. It’s nice that they apparently are doing things like regular people…to a point though. Obviously bodyguards might be a necessity, but at least she shopped and talked to employees and making their own dinners. I think considering they can go anywhere in the world and spend a ton of money to have a low key honeymoon is totally original. This is royalty that is different and awesome.

I hope she is a strong person: it can’t be easy to have every minute of your life outside of home photographed and commented on.

Glad they are trying to live like normal folks, but I wonder how long it can last? I expect after awhile she will get tired and frustrated at being followed and photographed all the time. All the best to them!

It’s really great that they want to be normal and not waited on hand and foot. Royalty really has changed over the years.

Oh my god! Osama bin Laden can take a rain check, Kate went grocery shopping! What’s next, Kate buys a magazine from a newsstand? Kate got a cup of Costa coffee? Give me a break.
