Kate Winslet tricked into posing on fur

Kate WinsletKate Winslet, an anti-fur advocate, was duped into posing on a real fur blanket during a photo shoot for Vanity Fair. Apparently the magazine told Winslet the blanket was faux-fur but in reality was a $14,677 silver fox fur throw. Vanity Fair has apologized to the Revolutionary Road actress for the major mix-up. A spokeswomen for Vanity Fair told The Daily Mail, “Although there were both real and fake furs on set, the fur used in the photograph is real. We thought Miss Winslet was aware of this and we’re sorry for the miscommunication.  The magazine also claims Winslet was not airbrushed.

How stupid, they knew she was anti-fur, why would they have her pose on real fur? And being anti-fur, wouldn’t the people at Vanity Fair clue in that she wasn’t aware? If she was aware, she would have refused, and they should have figured that out!

Okay….the depiction is real . Know one would know any differnet and it still glamourizes the wearing of fur…fake or not. If her beliefs are that strong she shouldn’t have even gone that far as to pose in the first place

Well, you would think if they were going to use fur that they would also use a leather sofa instead of that thing in the picture! 😀

Iamone, I don’t think the argument here has to do with being against all types of fur, faux or not. I’m an anti-fur campaigner myself and yet I have no problem at all with faux fur. I don’t think Kate is opposed to wearing/posing with faux fur. I think the real issue here would be the fact that they used real fur. It looks to me like Vanity Fair knew that rug was real fur and just didn’t care. As long as Kate couldn’t tell the difference, what was the problem? And now they’ve issued an apology, not because they actually mean it, but because they got caught. I find it hard to believe not a single person at Vanity Fair knew Kate Winslet was against the use of real fur. And I also find it hard to believe that Kate would pose with that rug if she knew it was real fur.
