Katharine McPhee branded a homewrecker – her career in jeopardy

American Idol alum and Smash actress Katharine McPhee was spotted last week kissing married director Michael Morris and now she’s being called a homewrecker. Katharine, who is married to her manager Nick Cokas, may also have harmed her career when she separated from him. A source told People: “Katharine cares about Michael, but she still cares about Nick too. She didn’t mean for anyone to be hurt.” Unfortunately, it’s too late for her to worry about that. After the photos went public, Morris confessed his infidelity to his wife of 10 years, actress Mary McCormack. She was apparently “blindsided” and subsequently kicked him out of their home. He has also been fired from an E! pilot called Songbyrd that he was set to direct.
PR Director Jamie Krauss spoke with Fox about the affair, saying, “[Katherine’s] likability factor will be seriously tarnished. When female stars act as home wreckers, the American public, but particularly women, tend to sour to them very fast. Look at Kristen Stewart or Leann Rimes or even Angelina Jolie. All of them took a lot of heat for their famous affairs.” However, he believes Morris’ wife may find her career benefit from the affair. “A cheating scandal in Hollywood can really go both ways. Someone like Katharine McPhee will probably be damaged by this but Michael Morris’ wife, Mary, might actually benefit so there’s a glimmer of hope for her. Look at Sandra Bullock.” ~Brie Davis

Sandra bullock has always been great. She also won an Oscar before news of the scandal broke.
Yeah, Sandra sort of disappeared from the limelight when she realized she’d married a rat. Her career didn’t need help from a scandal. However, I hope this kills Katharine McPhee’s career. To carry on an affair with a married man with small children is abhorrent. She may not be as famous as Kristen Stewart, but she’s just as bad a person.
Sorry – no such thing as a homewrecker. A person who marry’s and takes their vows is responsible for their marriage – not an unattached person. Simply the same as smoking. Someone who swears off cigarettes shouldn’t take one just cuz someone offered them a smoke. You’re either in or you’re out. Make a committment and stick to it. Don’t blame Katharine for HIS shortcomings. When will people start to take responsibility for their own behaviour? When you cross a street, look both ways first – don’t expect all the drivers to take responsibility for you and your life – it’s YOUR life, look after it. Marriage is no different, it takes responsibility and especially when kids are involved.
Thank you NummyNum. It shows how much of a patriarchy we still live in that she’s the one who receives most of the blame and the negative fallout when he’s the one responsible for upholding his vows. McPhee didn’t put a gun to his head. If she is indeed a homewrecker, it’s her own home she wrecked, not Morris’.
A glimmer of hope because her husband cheating might benefit her career? Yeah, that’s not superficial at all!!!! I’m sure that’s very comforting for a woman scorned.
Michael Morris broke his married vows and decided to kiss Katharine Mcphee. It is all on him. Since his wife kicked him out he has nowhere else to go good for him. I don’t consider Katharine as a homewrecker because it is not her fault for this affair.
It’s actually on both of them. He is a cheating loser home wrecker and so is McPhee…they are both responsible. He is responsible to his marriage and wife/kids but we are all responsible for how we treat others … If she knew he was married she is a home wrecker. But I agree that people seem to let the men off and attack the cheater women…
What a dog. Now he is just remaining silence and letting Katharine take all the heat. Men! argh!
What career?
On Christmas morning when Katharine wakes up to open all her presents for herself and her two doggies, I wonder if she will be thinking of three little children without their father and the questions they will be asking? She is a grown woman who tough seperated should find romance with single available men. The director I hope will be thinking back on his stupidity….he definitely traded down. Mary McCormack is so highly regarded by many in the movie t.v. business….I just shake my head at his conceited and thoughtfulness regarding his family. Was it worth it? If he is with McPhee at Christmas he will be busy with her and her two little dogs and not at home sharing in the joy of Christmas with a lvoely wife and three beautiful children. I hope both of them have a dreadful christmas……
