Katy Perry booed on American Idol

By Tribute on April 27, 2012 | 7 Comments

The audience was in for a huge surprise during last night’s episode of American Idol. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a good surprise. While waiting for the results to confirm who would be voted off, the audience was getting hyped up for a surprise performance by none other than music superstar Katy Perry. E! Online reported that the stage manager and audience coordinator were teasing the audience by saying, “Should we tell them? Do you want to tell them? OK, let’s just let it be a surprise.” As the fans grew more and more excited, they were led to complete and utter disappointment. Katy Perry’s performance wasn’t live — it was pre-taped. Fans of the singer voiced their disappointment as many began to “boo,” and with great reason. At the end of the night, Elise Testone was voted off and performed an amazing cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love,” but of course, that doesn’t make up for the not-so-live Katy Perry performance. For fans who don’t mind watching her on the screen, her new concert movie, Katy Perry: Part of Me is set to hit theaters this summer. ~Renita Naraine

aww poor Katy. But then again this is a LIVE singing show and guests should be confident enough in their abilities to do the same.

Why would the producers do that? … they should not invite artists if they can’t perform live. The audience were right to boo.

Agree, it feels like cheating if the performance is pre-taped… The idol hopefuls cannot depend on a pre-taped performance… it seems like the guest performers should be something for the Idol contestants to aspire to. I very impressed for Elise’s farewell performance.. that’s the way to do it.

You can’t blame katy for this. She probably had a concert or something she had to get to and simply could not do this live, she has performed live on this show in past years btw. If you want to boo the producers for knowing she could not perform live then go for it, but you shouldnt be booing Katy for putting her career ahead of a guest appearance on a TV show.

Katy is cool but, American Idol sucks…having her appear live or not doesnt make it suck any less…you know what they say…you cant polish a turd…
