Katy Perry turns down $20 million American Idol offer

Katy Perry has reportedly turned down a $20 million judging gig with American Idol. Quoted as saying, “It’s not right for me yet,” the California Girl wants to focus on other things in her career. After losing Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler, and with Randy Jackson possibly moving to a mentor position, Idol is trying to find more big name celebs to put behind the judges table. Also, with Mariah Carey being the only confirmed judge for season 12, making $18 million per season, it wouldn’t be surprising if she made a fuss about Perry’s offer. Aside from the $2 million pay difference, it has also been reported that Carey was told she was going to be the only female on the panel, apparently becoming infuriated when she heard Nicki Minaj had been approached. Those mentioned to fill out the remaining spots include Kanye West, Nick Jonas and Keith Urban – luckily for Carey, they’re all men! ~Morgan Bates
