Kevin Costner to speak at Whitney Houston funeral

Whitney Houston’s The Bodyguard co-star Kevin Costner will speak at her funeral on Saturday, according to People magazine. Houston’s ex-husband, Bobby Brown, will also be in attendance, having received an invitation from the Houston family, despite several family members being opposed because they feel he was directly responsible for her descent into drug and alcohol abuse. Also believed to be attending are Oprah, Clive Davis, Bill Cosby, Tyler Perry, Alicia Keys and Dionne Warwick. Although the funeral is by invitation only, a video of the proceedings will be streamed live online by numerous media outlets. Meanwhile, controversy surrounds the funeral due to New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s decision to have flags flown at half-mast on Saturday. Some officials are saying this particular honor should be reserved for members of the military, elected officials and first responders. Others have said that the governor should not be honoring a drug addict. Christie says Houston deserves the honor because of her huge cultural impact and because she is “a daughter of New Jersey.” ~Kayla Thompson

If the family wants this to be a private affair why would they allow streaming? that doesn’t make sense. You might as well have it in a stadium with a full spectacle like MJ

It makes sense that they don’t have to converse with anyone they do not want present, yet are able to get a pay out through the media. IMO it’s a great idea because it helps the family financially and also gives fans who want to attend the next best thing.

I agree with @Brenda and to see the Positive side; Whitney Houston had a huge impact with her Angelic singing/voice for us!! Even if I don’t agree to a piece of cloth(flag – flown at 1/2 mast) – at least it would give respect to her, for the above.
