Kevin Hart won’t play gay characters

Kevin Hart refuses to play gay characters. The Wedding Ringer actor – who is engaged to model Eniko Parrish – insists he has no ”disrespect” towards homosexual people but admits he is too ”insecure” to portray someone in a same-sex relationship on screen.

He said: ”I can’t. Not because I have any ill will or disrespect. Its because I don’t think I’m really going to dive into that role 100 percent because of insecurities about myself trying to play that part. Does that make sense?”

However, the 35-year-old actor went on to stress he has no problem with the gay community. He added in an interview on Power 105.1’s ‘The Breakfast Club’: ”As people, I love you.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Kevin admitted he turned down the role of Alpa Chino in controversial 2008 comedy Tropic Thunder, with the part eventually going to Brandon T. Jackson. He admitted: ”The dude, he was doing a lot of stuff in the draft that I read. It was real flagrant. … I was like, ‘I can’t do this.’ ”

Kevin recently admitted he wants ”nothing” to do with planning his wedding. He said: ”I want nothing to do with the planning. I want nothing to do with it!’ The reason I’m stepping out of the way? I don’t want to be a part of the problem! It’s your day, honey. Be happy.”
