Kiefer Sutherland thinks he’s paid too much

Kiefer Sutherland24 star Kiefer Sutherland gives a shout out to the little guy and admits that he thinks actors are paid too much. Instead, he insists the less glamorous jobs–such as emergency service workers and teachers–merit the big dough. “The kind of money generated around the industry is way out of proportion. The admiration bestowed on actors is also out of perspective,” the Canadian actor told contactmusic.com. “Doctors are the stars of our society–people like my grandfather who was responsible for the healthcare in Canada–as well as teacher, firefighters and police officers.” Well said. But, it’s doubtful that Sutherland was complaining about any of the free swag he took home while promoting Mirrors.

totally agree with him. nice to know there are those in hollywood with their heads stuck on right – or tight, since he does have a past. But still. and no dave, i don’t think even you would take a reduction salary if people are willing to pay you too much. i don’t judge him for that. i just hope he does charity.

Hope he is “banking” (saving) part of it. Actors, like professional athletes, do get paid large salaries, but the income is not guaranteed until retirement (and no pension plan either).

I’ve always liked Kiefer, he makes some really good points. Chances are he does contribute to worthy causes – he doesn’t strike me as a materialistic, media whore “Hey, do you know who I am?” type of guy.

The public will continue idolizing their celebrities and the money paid to them will continue to be higher and higher. It’s wonderful to see them donating some of their cash to charitable organizations, underpriviledged kids, other worthy causes. You don’t have to be rich to do so, though. Every bit helps.
