America’s Got Talent host Nick Cannon recently announced that he broke up with reality star Kim Kardashian in 2007 after she lied about her sex tape with ex-boyfriend, Ray J. “This was my issue. We talked about this tape…And she told me there was no tape,” he said on The Howard Stern Show. “If she might have been honest with me I might have tried to hold her down and be like ‘That was before me’ because she is a great girl. She’s actually one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. But the fact that she lied and told me that there was no tape?” The tape made her famous, and Cannon revealed he thought she had a hand in its release, adding, “I still think she might even have had a part to play with its release. I think she’s a great businesswoman if you ask me.” ~Luxy Hariharan

I agree about her being a great businesswoman. I don’t see how anyone can argue the point. Kim belongs to the new breed of celebrity which dominate the landscape now. In essence, these people owe their fame to the “in your face exposure” provided by reality tv. They aren’t famous because of talent, they are famous because of the most shallow form of ambition, famous for being famous.
