Kristen Stewart beats Jennifer Lawrence for lead role

By Tribute on August 3, 2012 | 16 Comments

Though Kristen Stewart’s life is in shambles due to her cheating scandal with Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders, it seems her career is doing just fine. The 22-year-old Twilight actress has just landed the lead role in Scott Cooper’s upcoming film Lie Down in Darkness, an adaptation of William Styron’s 1951 novel. Stewart will play Peyton Loftis, a girl who is hated by her jealous mother and lusted after by her alcoholic father. Though this role will be a career boost, Stewart may have unfortunately enraged some Hunger Games devotees. Vulture reported that the Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence sought the same role. Lawrence wanted the part so much that she wrote the director. The actress told W magazine, “I am obsessed with that part. I have this feeling of protectiveness over characters I want to play. I worry about them — if someone else gets the part, I’m afraid they won’t do it right… I’m trying to write the director to convince him that I should be in his movie. I’ll chase him if I have to. I’ll sit outside his house.” Unfortunately for Lawrence, Stewart nabbed the role, though it could have just been due to Lawrence’s overly-busy schedule filming The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and X-Men: Days of Future Past, making her unavailable. ~Isabelle Khoo

Why?? SHe is soooooo terrible, can her acting BE any worse? I guess it pays to cheat errr accidentally hook up with a married guy

Well done Kristen!!! She needs a win right now.

As much as I want K-Stew to actually overcome this (despite the fact that she cheated with a married man no less I still am willing to forgive her slightly), Im really mad about this. Jennifer is a OSCAR NOMINATED actress while Kristen’s a RAZZIE NOMINATED actress. Who would I choose to be in this? Plus Jennifer wrote to the director, which now seems like a complete slap to the face since she didnt get the part. Oh well, ll just hope for the best that this movie has some really good actors in it to make it at least enjoyable 😛

Kristen Stewart is the People of Walmart. Kinda cheap and trashy, always open for business, and has the face only a mother can love.

Well, so much for that movie. WHY this girl keeps getting roles makes no sense. She couldnt act her way out of a paper bag. Making confused, constipated, scrunchy faces and huffing to portray every emotion is NOT acting. Too bad, because Jennifer Lawrence is a great actress and would have done the part proud….

An oscar nomination doesn’t make you a great actress necessarily. The Hunger Games is no better than Twilight…it’s a big gimic to make money for Hollywood. Look at Stewart’s indie film work. There are excellent performances there.

The difference between HG and Twilight though Karen is that The Hunger Games was an actual good movie. And yes, I saw her in The Runaways and I thought Kristen did a good job. The problem is that she can’t act for certain roles and this just doesn’t seem like a good role for her. Besides, if you saw Jennifers performance in Winter’s Bone (the movie she was nominated) she did incredible and deserved her nomination. Name at least 5 examples of when the actor didnt deserve their nomination and then I will take your statement to heart

    Kristen’s quite versatile; she’ll bang her co-stars when a director’s not handy for a handj*b.

KS has no good work! She is miserable and constipated in everything she does. It’s too bad they are wasting there time hiring an actress for her stupid teen followers for box office returns then hiring a real actress. Another movie I will not be watching, even for free off the internet.

    Olive,

Eye of the beholder re : good. I thought the Hunger Games was just as bad as Twilight.

Nominations/Wins: Sandra Bullock (The Blind Side); Penolple Cruz (Nine); Robert Downey (Tropic Thunder); Will Smith (Pursuit of Happiness);Leo Dicaprio (The Aviator).

Others of course will disagree…my opinion, just as yours is.

I actually have only seen The Blind Side (which BTW sucked), but Ill take your word on it Karen. And yes, everyone’s opinion is different, so if I insulted you about the Twilight/HG thing Im very sorry. 🙂

I still like Kristen Stewart no matter what and I honestly believe Rupert S. is the male Tramp in the situation. He is older, wiser, richer and probably very charming and convincing. Kristen needs to grow up and take responsibility for her actions and paid the price of a relationship fail, but Rupert S. is just as much to blame.

  14. Karen • August 4, 2012 @ 1:52 PM

    Olive,

Not insulted at all…your opinion is perfectly valid. Cheers!

    Karyn,

    Absolutely well said!

I’m still trying to understand why this talentless hack keeps getting work. Then again, I still can’t wrap my mind around Lindsey Lohan and the Kardashians.
