Kristen Stewart doesn’t expect praise

Kristen Stewart never expects praise.

The 24-year-old actress began her career when she was nine years old and admits she’s always self-deprecating because she’s so used to receiving a ”kick in the a**” from other people.

She said: ”I’ve taken so much s**t that I’m just like, ‘I’m not the winner!’ I’m not gonna be let down when I don’t get the pat on the back. I’m totally used to the kick in the a**.”

The Twilight Saga actress also insists she has never been interested in winning awards for her work and her dreams have always involved her career progression.

She told The Hollywood Reporter: ”I’ve never, ever been like, ‘One day, I’m gonna win an Oscar.’ Truly, my ‘one day’ was always, ‘I’m gonna be a director! One day, I’m gonna direct movies!”’

However, Kristen admits she was overjoyed to be the first American actress to ever pick up a César Award—France’s Oscars equivalent—for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Clouds of Sils Maria.

She said: ”Oh, man, it blew my head off, to be honest. I couldn’t believe that I got nominated and then, obviously I really, really couldn’t believe that they gave it to me, because those people rigidly dole out praise, especially to Americans. It felt really good.”

She jokingly added: ”I would prefer a French Oscar [to an American Oscar].”

Kristen insists she isn’t worried about getting older because she won’t make herself ”crazy” by constantly looking back.

She said: ”Actresses go crazy when they feel like they want to hold on to what used to be, or whatever. I’m so satisfied and happy and absolutely looking forward to what’s to come… [But] talk to me when I’m 30 and then I’ll be like, ‘Ahhhhh!’ As time goes on, who knows what my ambitions and objectives will be? Who knows how I’m gonna feel about what I do and what that’s gonna turn into? I have a feeling that I’m gonna do this for a while—at least, being involved in this industry.”
