Lady Gaga stops concert to break up fight

By Alexandra Heilbron on September 9, 2010 | 39 Comments

Lady Gaga stopped mid-song during a concert in Washington D.C. on Tuesday night to break up a fight in the audience. After breaking up the fight, she asks, “Is she okay? Are they both okay?” She then apologizes to the audience and says, “This is all about love and happiness. No fighting.” As the crowd roars in approval, she gives the cue for her next song and the dancers, who were frozen in position, waiting to continue where they left off mid-song, move off stage. What do you think? Was that unprofessional stage behavior or did Lady Gaga do the right thing, demonstrating that she cares for her fans?

i think she is amazing for stopping her show to help try to stop a fight. most people would just allow people to mistreat others. she has definitely earned my respect. in a world filled with so much hate, its nice to see that some celebs actually care about other people.

She’s awesome, that shows she really cares about her fans.

  3. Sarah • September 9, 2010 @ 10:05 AM

It would have been unprofessional NOT to stop. She did the right thing.
Im not a big Lady Gaga fan, but I have more respect for her now.

i agree… the artist always have the most influence in the crowd… by doing what she did that showed everyone what a great artist she is…

Having worked concert & Event security for almost 25yrs I have had the opportunity to see everyone I ever wanted to see and many I would never have bothered with if it wasn’t my job. In my experience, ALL the artists who have ever seen poor behavior of any kind within the small area in front of the stage that they can see, have ALWAYS stopped the show to make sure it was dealt with immediately! Notice how she holds her hand over her eyes to see the crowd? Artists are blind to what tmost of the building is doing and miss LOTS of what goes on during their shows.
I have heard acts pronounce that they wanted the crowd to take care of themselves and each other more times than you could imagine in an effort to have people act responsibly and enjoy the shows. People are seeing this thinking what a great thing it is when in fact it is quite commonplace and the only reason that people are aware of it is because this artist is so hugely controversial right now and someone was recording it against the the usual direction by artists and promoters.
Here it is on the web and someone fed it to the news machine by putting it in the public domain with GluTube.

I believe she was caring for her fans. Gaga is a awsome preformer! Plus she shows it were other artist do not!

  7. Darwin Palma • September 9, 2010 @ 12:26 PM

It was a very good thing that she stopped, otherwise the fight could have escalated.
But it would have been better to restart the song she was singing 🙂

  8. Janice Douglas • September 9, 2010 @ 12:52 PM

Bravo, Lady G!! Spread the love ♥

  9. JDiz • September 9, 2010 @ 1:40 PM

She definitely did the right thing.
She would be irresponsible to see something happening and not try to help out.

This reminds me of a clip I saw a while ago of Regina Spektor stopping mid song to make sure someone in the crowd was OK. She even had the audience part to form a path so medics or guards could get to the person. Pretty cool if you ask me.

Stars who actually show they’re human and care get even more love from their fans

She is an amazing artist and I think she did the right thing!!!

  11. Ally • September 9, 2010 @ 3:02 PM

For once…an entertainer showed that they are there to ENTERTAIN…now I’m not a huge fan of hers, but I give respect where it is due…and for her to stop a fight in the middle of her song says alot about her as a person…she wants people to have a good time at her concerts and will ensure that everyone has an enjoyable time…KUDOS GAGA..KUDOS!!!

  12. Ally • September 9, 2010 @ 3:11 PM

It’s good that she stopped the fight, but she talks way too much.

  13. Mark • September 9, 2010 @ 3:14 PM

I’m not at all a Lady Gaga fan, but I think this shows that she’s a decent person and she should be applauded for that.

  14. Trisha • September 9, 2010 @ 3:16 PM

i will say im listening to lady’s ga’s music right now as i check my email. i believe she to be amazing. new, edgy, fresh, thinks outside the box and yes cares for her fans. our world needs less fighting and good to have people speaking up such as performers. i will say i dont like her comment re truth though. we need less bullshit in this world as most of the world reeks of it. speaking truth is far better and easier but sad to say most people live in fear of truth. lady gaga i love her regardless. everyone has the right to their own opinions. i am happy there is a lady gaga now!! peace and love not war.

  15. C-Dub • September 9, 2010 @ 3:39 PM

I don’t really care for GaGa but that’s very respectable of her. Safety first. These people didn’t pay such high prices to get beat up or worse! So good on her for stopping her show and spreading positivity. I hope the people fighting were embarrassed to be singled out like that!!!

  16. Virginia Buck • September 9, 2010 @ 3:41 PM

Of course she did the right thing. To do anything else would have been wrong.

  17. Sol • September 9, 2010 @ 5:15 PM

Wow – a human acted human! Whoda thunk it?

  18. DKirkland • September 9, 2010 @ 5:27 PM

good on her. however i don’t think a lot of artists know that these things go down until after the show. it appears that this happened right in front of her. but still good on her for having the smarts to interject.

  19. Alanna • September 9, 2010 @ 5:42 PM

GAGA ALERT!!! HELP BREAK UP THE FIGHT!

    GAGA FAN NEEDS HELP!

HELP A GAGA FAN!!! SHE IS BEING THROWN AROUND BY A BUNCH OF GAGA HATERS!!!

  20. Sara • September 9, 2010 @ 7:19 PM

    Go Gaga!

  21. Thibz • September 9, 2010 @ 7:42 PM

im not a fan of her but i think what she did was great. AS for the band well im sure they can be replaced 🙂

  22. Sarah • September 9, 2010 @ 8:02 PM

well, it was really kind of what she did. Knowing her she wouldn’t want one of her fans getting hurt, while she did nothing about it.

  23. Dianne • September 9, 2010 @ 8:37 PM

Smart move, like everything else she does!

  24. mandee • September 9, 2010 @ 8:50 PM

i agree with all of the comments, but heres my comments on 3 of the comments i found to be a bit off.

Bob W on September 9, 2010 12:06 PM it doesnt matter if everyone is stopping their songs or whatnot to help the people in the audience, it could happen every minute actually, it wouldnt make what lady gaga did any less important. i admire any star that is willing to reach out and try to help people that are in need, because the world doesnt have many people that show they care anymore.

Ally on September 9, 2010 3:11 PM can you really not ever say anything nice about any celeb without adding a rude twist on it? who cares how much she talks?

Sol on September 9, 2010 5:15 PM if being “human” means helping others in need and being there for people, theres not many “humans” in this world. the point of the story is that she isnt self centered or conceited like most people (even non-celebs) are.

  25. Rhp29 • September 9, 2010 @ 9:41 PM

She did the right thing , good for u gaga!!

  26. Stagetechie • September 9, 2010 @ 11:01 PM

I think what she did was amazing. It shows that she cares for her fans and wants to make sure everyone is alright. I’ve never heard of any other music star doing that. Go Lady Gaga!

  27. Ross Murray • September 9, 2010 @ 11:10 PM

    – Agree with Sarah. I suppose it was a good thing the fight was fairly close so she COULD do something about it. It’s too bad for those “fans” they got wrapped up in something other than the concert which they likely paid a pretty penny to attend.

  28. Tayderhead • September 10, 2010 @ 12:44 AM

But her hair’s been hanging in her macaroni…..why?

  29. Angrod • September 10, 2010 @ 4:39 AM

Be a fan blind people’s mind. It is 100% evident everything was fake and only for propaganda. Any doubt? Watch video again (if you can find it).

  30. Angel • September 10, 2010 @ 4:21 PM

I was at the concert and saw the fight first hand, it was appropriate to stop the concert. The whole incident was so disruptive that I don’t think anyone in the front section was able to concentrate on the performance for fear of being pushed.
I hope the woman that started this were arrested, they were abrupt, rude and completely drunk, pushing and shoving their way through the crowd with no regard for anyone around them. There is no place for people like that at a concert but we always seem to run into them at every concert.

  31. mandee • September 11, 2010 @ 12:15 AM

angel, im glad you didnt get hurt!

  32. Ryan • September 11, 2010 @ 2:46 PM

Her music is mediocre and desperate for attention, and there are many more kind and well meaning people in the world that do more than she does on a regular basis.

The only reason I bothered to comment is because I opened my email box and found this heading from my Tribute.ca email subscription. This isn’t news, and she’s not profound nor is her behaviour outstanding. Appreciating her good behaviour is fine, but WHY she in particular has made the news is what aggrevates me.

Revive real music, revive real news.

  33. Lisa • September 11, 2010 @ 5:50 PM

    Good for her!

I always says there is not enough exposure of the stars doing good and too much doing BAD!

This is just the influence we need our youth to see!!!!!

Finally someone doing something right put in the spotlight!

And to Ryan’s comment above, unfortunately the media doesn’t catch the right people at the right time……where’s a cop when you need one type of thing.

  34. mandee • September 12, 2010 @ 8:58 PM

i am surprised to see how many people are being negative about a celeb doing something kind for someone else. its not their job or responsibility to make sure other people dont hurt each other, but she risked looking like an idiot by stopping her show to stop a fight. i bet if any of you saw random strangers on the street getting into a fight, you wouldnt even take a minute to stop and try to help.

  35. Saad • September 12, 2010 @ 10:06 PM

It’s only good if someone was dragged to her concert to listen to her pooptastic music and to unfortunately have to
look at an unlikable freak like Lady Gaga.

  36. Bam Bam • September 12, 2010 @ 11:32 PM

    change however with whoever

  37. Pat • September 14, 2010 @ 1:19 PM

I think it shows a proffesionalism on her part that i really didn’t expect from her, for some reason. I have to give her credit for doing that. Most bands/singers would’ve ignored the situation and it would have affected the other concert goers. So yes i believe that Lady GaGa did do the right think.

  38. Sasa • September 16, 2010 @ 1:54 PM

I love GAGA even more now!

  39. gbh999 • September 19, 2010 @ 1:24 AM

lady gaga is a shameless publicity whore. By the way… who is this mandee, who keeps on posting, like this is a chat line. Is the bitch looking for a job at this rag?
