Leonardo DiCaprio to play serial killer

Leonardo DiCaprio has signed on to portray one of the first-ever documented serial killers in American history. The movie will be based on the best-selling non-fiction book “The Devil in the White City” by Erik Larson. DiCaprio will play Dr. Henry Howard Holmes, who confessed to 27 murders, but he’s believed to have committed up to 200 during the time the city of Chicago was hosting the 1893 World’s Fair. Holmes opened a three-story hotel that took up a whole street block, where many of his murders took place. The hotel had a gas chamber, crematorium and a dissecting table where Holmes would murder his victims, who were mostly his female employees, his lovers and hotel guests. DiCaprio will not only be starring in the flick, but his company secured the screen rights to the book and will produce the movie.

I saw him in Shutter Island, so I think he’d be really good as a serial killer.

With those beady, squinty eyes? He’s an obvious choice.

I am shocked no one else has made this comment. Is it not creepy that 94% of people said said yes to the fact that he would make a great on-screen serial killer?

He’s come a long way since Titanic.

I say NO only because I love his acting (not to mention the fact that he is crazy hot!!) and when I watch him work I don’t want to feel any dislike for him, I just want him to be dreamy!! lol 🙂 But with his talent he can do anything and be convincing!!! The man in my opinion is one of the absolute BEST!!!!

DiCaprio is an amazing actor and tackles a role with such intensity that obviously this role he has chosen is tailor-made for his particular talents!

I think he’s a fantastic actor and I think he could pull it off. Do I want him to portray a serial killer? not really, because I want to love his characters. If he does it, then I wish him nothing but the best.

Leo has matured in age and acting. As long as he doesn’t over act, he will be believable as a serial killer.

before I saw him in Shutter’s Island, I would not have believed that he could play a serial killer. However, his great performance in Shutter’s made me vote that he could portray a serial killer with a lot of passion.

he pulls off every role he’s done throughout his career…have you seen a bad movie yet?…

    what’s eating gilbert grape
    marvin’s room
    romeo and juliet
    man in the iron mask

    just to name a few…

This sounds like a really interesting movie.

    – He’s shown himself to be highly versatile, so why not? Tony Curtis did it. Mark Harmon did it. Kevin Costner did it (fictional one). And how did I know Christian Bale would have enough “dark side” to work as Batman? I saw him in “American Psycho”. I haven’t read the book, but it seems like a really good (so to speak) fit for Leo.
I just remembered: He did a really dark turn as Jim Carroll in “The Basketball Diaries”.

He’s come a long way since he was a baby-faced kid in Titanic. He’s really matured and I think he could play just about any role.

  16. michlle • November 5, 2010 @ 5:17 PM

Im with Danielle on this one. I voted no cuz I dont want to think bad things about him. Nobody likes the crazies.

  17. Ally • November 5, 2010 @ 10:15 PM

Damn, he’s hot as hell. I totally love this guy!

  18. C-Dub • November 6, 2010 @ 10:56 AM

He’s come a long way and has matured a lot. This guy can ACTUALLY act. I thought he couldn’t pull off a US Marshall/mental patient in Shutter Island, but wow! I was blown away at the movie as a whole and I cant say enough about Inception. Both are like “The Game” but way better. So to see him as a well-to-do doctor/hotel owner in an era like the late 1800 to early 1900 would be awesome. I read what the film will be about and with a good set and director attached this would totally be interesting and completely sick.

I think Leonardo could play anything….from devil to angel. Everything he does is so believable. I would go out of my way to see every movie he is in.

Eileen, I agree – he’s a really great actor and is extremely versatile.

As I never saw ‘Shuter Island’, I don’t really know how “bad” of a character that Lionardo can play. However, I feel that he could do a great job at whatever character he portrays. He seems to be very “flexable”, and does a fine job in anything of seen him act in thus far… I really liked him in “The Aviator”,and of course, “Titanic”. This new movie sounds like it will be a real “thriller”. It should beinteresting, Lionardo playing a warped villain! Might go and see it, even.
