Madonna flashes swastika during concert in Israel

Madonna has always liked to stir up a controversy; burning crosses and appearing almost naked are just a few of her notoriously contentious acts. However, some say she may have gone a little too far when she flashed a swastika over an image of a French politician’s face last Thursday in Tel Aviv while performing the song “Nobody Knows Me.” France’s National Front is a right-wing political party that has run into accusations of racism and anti-Semitism over the last few years. The head of the party, Marine Le Pen, expressed outrage after having a swastika projected onto her forehead in a sequence of photos including other political figures such as Sarah Palin and Chinese President Hu Jintao. “We are not a Nazi party, and object to being depicted as such,” a party source told The Daily Mail. Le Pen noted that legal action will be taken against Madonna if she attempts to pull the same stunt in France, adding, “We understand how old singers who need to get people talking about them go to such extremes,” in an interview with The Daily Mail. Perhaps accusing a politician of being a Nazi is stepping too far, even for Madonna. ~Stacy Raivich
