Margot Robbie will host the premiere of SNL’s 42nd season

After Saturday Night Live (SNL) openly questioned the public for suggestions, the host of its 42nd season premiere has finally been announced! Margot Robbie was the winner and she will be joined by musical guest The Weeknd.

The news comes after a summer of big changes at SNL, with Jay Pharoah, Taran Killam and Jon Rudnitsky leaving the show, and the addition of three new cast members: Mikey Day, and comedians Alex Moffat and Melissa Villaseñor.

While this will be Margot’s first time hosting SNL, it is The Weeknd’s second time as a musical guest, having previously performed on Amy Schumer‘s episode last year.

Margot was most recently seen as Harley Quinn in the summer blockbuster Suicide Squad, and was also in films such as The Legend of Tarzan, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, and The Wolf of Wall Street.

Meanwhile, two-time Grammy Award winner and Oscar nominee The Weeknd has an upcoming album called Starboy, that is scheduled to be released Nov. 25.

Season 42 of SNL premieres Saturday, Oct. 1 at 11:30 p.m. on NBC. Will you be watching? Let us know in the comments below! ~Natalia Makarski
