Mariah Carey says American Idol was like working with Satan

Mariah Carey served as a judge on American Idol last season alongside fellow judges Randy Jackson, Keith Urban and Nicki Minaj. However, she says when she signed on, she was told there would only be three judges. During a visit to The Angie Martinez Show on Hot97fm, she said of her one season on American Idol: “Honestly, I hated it. Here’s what it was. I was the first person who signed on…I thought it was going to be a three-person panel. They gave me a nice…monetary moment, and I was just like, ‘Okay, Randy Jackson will be there; I’ve known him forever. He used to play bass for me. Like, this isn’t a big deal. This will be nothing.’ But it wasn’t that,” she continued. “It was like going to work every day in hell with Satan.” Mariah and Nicki famously didn’t get along, with Nicki often rolling her eyes as Mariah was speaking. However, Mariah went on to say she loved the contestants, adding, “And some of them that were so good — and also really good people, you could tell.” Watch the video below:
