Martha Stewart’s lip was gashed open Wednesday morning when her beloved French bulldog headbutted her. She explained on her blog that she’d just returned from a trip the night before and the next morning, had to rush to be at the studio for a 7 a.m. call. Stewart wrote: ” As I leaned down to whisper goodbye to a dozing Francesca, I must have startled her, because she bolted upright with such force that she hit me in the face like a boxing glove hitting an opponent’s face. I was entirely startled and my neck snapped back. I felt a bit of whiplash as blood gushed forth from my split lip. Frannie was as upset as I was and cowered in her bed. Rushing to a mirror, I realized it was a pretty serious gash.” Martha had her assistant call ahead to arrange for a plastic surgeon in the emergency room at a nearby hospital, then was rushed there by her driver, Carlos. The plastic surgeon on call, Dr. William Nolan, gave her nine stitches to her lip.
