Matt Damon, 38, has been chosen to receive his first lifetime achievement honor, the American Cinematheque Award. The Cinematheque award is given out annually to artists who are “committed to making a significant contribution to the art of the motion pictures.” Previous recipients of the award include Samuel L. Jackson, Jodie Foster, Nicole Kidman, Julia Roberts, Al Pacino and Denzel Washington. ABC is planning to broadcast the ceremony on March 27, 2010, so it doesn’t get lost in the shuffle of awards season. Damon won an Oscar for co-writing the Good Will Hunting screenplay with his friend, Ben Affleck, and also starred in the movie.
