Ian McKellen, who played the wizard Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, says he’s eager to return to the role in the new movie adaptation of The Hobbit. Even though it won’t be directed by LOTR director Peter Jackson, McKellen told Reuters: “When Peter announced he had withdrawn from The Hobbit, he sent me an e-mail saying, ‘Because I am not going to do it, it doesn’t mean you have to do the same. Of course, you must play Gandalf whether I direct or not.’ I am glad to read that it is looking more and more likely…I would be disappointed if they didn’t want to have the original Gandalf.”
this movie would be ass without him
i think it wud be pointless without perter jackson
who else agrees and dont say no just cuz u dont like peter jackson cuz he makes the movie too long
Peter Jackson rules!!!
I heard Adam Sandler has signed on to play Gandalf.
I heard that too…
adam sandler?!?! :O i see the movie going down the drain already
why not just use the same cast from the lotr series?! it will just make sense, they all worked well in their characters with the exception of viggo mortinsen… he wasnt old enough to play aragorn
“why not just use the same cast from the lotr series?!”
The studio may feel McKellen is too old to play Gandalf, and casting Sandler will attract a younger, hipper crowd.
I think it was icine.org that confirmed Sandler as Gandalf. Provocative casting, to say the least!
I’m betting Sandler surprises everyone.
“The Hobbit” could very well do for Sandler what “Sting II” did for Mac Davis.
