Mel Gibson quits smoking for daughter

mel_gibsonAs the father of a newborn at the age of 54, Mel Gibson admitted Tuesday on The Jay Leno Show that he’s more mellow now as a dad than he used to be . When Leno asked, “Are you getting up at night, are you doing the whole deal?” Gibson replied, “I will be honest, I would say that her mother does the lion’s share of that work, but you know, I support her.” However, he did say that he’s given up smoking after 45 years. “It’s been 18 days,” he said, adding that he quit because “apart from carrying the garbage up to the top of the driveway and wheezing… I have a three-month-old daughter and (someday) I want to play tennis with her.” ~Alexandra Heilbron
