Mel Gibson to begin community service

Mel Gibson was sentenced to complete 16 hours of community service between now and June 9 after pleading no contest to misdemeanor battery. He was charged with hitting ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, with whom he has a daughter. Gibson has chosen to fulfill his service at Mending Kids International, where his ex-wife, Robyn, is the President of the Board of Directors. Gibson has also donated to the charity, which is dedicated to providing life-changing surgical care to children in need, in the past. In addition to community service, Gibson was also ordered to attend 52 weeks of counseling sessions and instructed to only have “peaceful contact” with Grigorieva, a stipulation that was already in place under his family law custody case.

16 hours of community service where his ex-wife presides over the board of directors, I’m gessing this will be light work. His ex has been defending him since his troubles started so I don’t think she’ll be too hard on him.

C’mon Mel, get your act together and bring us other good movies like Apocalypto.

Just give the guy a break, there’s two sides to every story. I don’t think that he should be getting this much scrutiny
