Mel Gibson’s stepmother files restraining order

By Tribute on July 3, 2012 | 3 Comments

The Lethal Weapon actor can’t seem to stay out of trouble. In the latest of his many scandals, Mel Gibson‘s 78-year-old stepmother (Joye Gibson) has filed a temporary restraining order against him. The woman says she fears for her safety, believes Mel has anger management issues, and thinks he may become physically violent towards her. The issue apparently arose when he yelled at her after she questioned his plan for medical treatments for his 93-year-old father. In legal documents, Joye states, “He was so close that I could feel his spit hitting my face. He was wild and shaking with rage, and his eyes looked as if they were bulging out of his head.” She says Mel wanted to use “unconventional treatments” (referring to stem cell and Ozone treatments). Mel, on the other hand, believes she should have no say in his father’s treatment and alleges that she wants to discontinue his medical treatments simply to accelerate his death — since he convinced his father to file for divorce from her last month. The two have been married since 2001. The hearing for the restraining order is set for July 25th. ~Stacy Raivich
