Mel Gibson says he won’t be appearing in another Lethal Weapon sequel. “I couldn’t imagine going back there to try to revive that one,” he told MTV. “I think we got everything we could out of it.” Shane Black, who wrote the original Lethal Weapon movie, penned an outline for a fifth movie, which piqued producer Joel Silver’s interest. But when Gibson decided he didn’t want to return to his role as Martin Riggs, the film was shelved, according to Richard Donner, who directed all four installments. “Of course these things always come around,” Gibson continued. “Five though? Five?! Please.” Gibson, who’s concentrated on directing in the past few years, returns to the big screen this November following a six-year absence to star as a homicide detective in the thriller Edge Of Darkness.
