Melissa Gilbert rushed to hospital

Melissa Gilbert was taken to the hospital during Monday night’s live show of Dancing with the Stars, but not before she performed to the best of her abilities. Gilbert performed a paso doble with partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy, which according to judge Bruno Tonioli was her best performance in the competition so far. However, shortly after the dance, the star was rushed to the hospital on a stretcher. It’s believed that although she didn’t appear to have hit her head, the vigorous performance left her with whiplash and a mild concussion. Fellow contestant Sherri Shepherd said on The View this morning that Melissa’s “adrenaline was running so high that I don’t think she noticed when it happened, but when she came upstairs, she was dizzy and nauseous.” Last night, Gilbert gave fans an update via Twitter saying, “I’m alright. Mild concussion and whiplash. Very soon I will be safely home resting and being taken care of.” She also tweeted her partner, “@Maksim you are my champion. I adore you,” and added, “@GavinDegraw bless your heart for carrying me down those stairs!” ~Renita Naraine
