Michael Buble, Neil Young bring home Grammys

Numerous Canadian artists were nominated for Grammy Awards this year and although Drake and Justin Bieber lost out in their categories, singers such as Neil Young and Michael Bublé were winners. Neil Young won during the pre-show for Best Rock Song for Angry World, while Michael Buble won for Best Traditional Pop Album for Crazy Love. Canada’s Arcade Fire won Album of the Year, despite being up against superstars such as Lady Antebellum, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Eminem. The big winner of the night was the country trio Lady Antebellum, winning five Grammys in total, including Song of the Year and Record of the Year for Need You Now. In a surprise upset, jazz singer Esperanza Spalding beat out Canadians Drake and Justin Bieber for Best New Artist. Bieber also lost for Best Pop Vocal Album, with Lady Gaga’s The Fame Monster taking home the prize. Pop group Train won Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group for Hey Soul Sister (which was also the most-downloaded song of 2010 on iTunes). Lead singer Patrick Monahan joked, “Wow, I’m freaking out — thanks Justin Bieber for not being a duo or group.”
