Michael Douglas: Tumor is gone

In an interview with Today Show host Matt Lauer, Michael Douglas told him that the tumor in his throat is gone and he feels positive about the future. “I think the odds are with the tumor gone and what I know about this particular type of cancer that I’ve got it beat,” Douglas said. “I have to check out on a monthly basis now to maintain. I guess there’s not a total euphoria. I’ll probably take a couple of months of getting checked out. But it’s been a wild six-month ride.” Douglas was diagnosed with throat cancer about half a year ago. He underwent radiation therapy and lost more than 30 pounds but is currently trying to gain the weight back. “I was gaunt,” he said of his appearance during that time. “So I think [my father, Kirk Douglas,] was even concerned.” Douglas feels optimistic, considering his family genes, saying, “I’m 66 now. You know, I’m fortunate I’ve got a mother who’s 88 — she’ll kill me — she may be 87. My father’s 94. So, you know, I feel good about those genes. But it’s definitely a third act. And so you’re a little more conscious of your time in how you choose to spend it.”

Well hope her QUITS smoking and things that are known to cause issues like this. Everyone thinks they can do the bad things when they are younger and oh well, you are going to die sometime, but when it starts to happen, you’ll do anything to reverse it. 2nd lease on life, don’t waste it. Gotta do what you can to prevent the bad things from happening.
Wow, he’s not kidding when he says he looks gaunt. He’s barely recognizable. Glad to hear he’s on the mend.

Yes, he’s a terrific actor and producer. Be a shame to have no more movies of his to watch. Glad he’s coming back to good health.
