Michael Madsen has been released from hospital.
The 54-year-old actor was taken to a medical facility after being arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) on Wednesday but has now been released, and his attorney Perry Wander says his prescription medication could be what caused him to appear drunk at the wheel.
Perry said: "Michael has been on prescription medication that easily could have made him look to be under the influence and caused him to fail the sobriety test."
Madsen had a blood-alcohol level of 0.21, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08, after his arrest on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu.
He has been charged with a misdemeanor DUI and bail set at $15,000 and his Pontiac GTO automobile
has been impounded.
This follows Michael's arrest in March at his Malibu home on felony charges of child endangerment with cruelty to a child, where he posted $100,000 bail before he was released.
Perry Wander said: "He found his son smoking pot and they got into an argument when he tried to take it away. It's a family matter and Michael asks that his family's privacy be respected."
However, the case was not taken any further due to insufficient evidence.

Good for him. Too many parents these days want to be their kids “friends” which leaves them without parents. More parents should tell their kids what’s right and what’s wrong.
He should first lead by example not being under the influence of anything.
