Michael McKean hit by a car in New York

Michael McKean, 64, was hit by a car in New York City just before 3 p.m. yesterday. The automobile spun out of control, slamming into McKean — one of the stars of the mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap. He has also appeared in a variety of other films, including Planes, Trains, and Automobiles and Woody Allen’s Whatever Works. McKean was taken to St. Luke’s hospital with several injuries, including a broken leg. His spokeswoman, Harriet Sternberg, told the New York Post: ”Hopefully, he’ll be fine. He has sustained multiple injuries, and we are trying to find out the extent of other injuries.” Three passengers in the car were also injured. McKean is currently starring in Gore Vidal’s play The Best Man on Broadway, but due to his accident he will have to miss several performances, something he’s not very happy about. Sternberg added: “He’s upset about missing his curtain. He’s never missed a performance in his career.” ~Stacy Raivich
