Michelle Williams devastated

Michelle WilliamsMichelle Williams has returned to New York from Sweden to mourn Heath Ledger, her two-year-old daughter Matilda’s father. The 27-year-old actress was filming the motion picture Mammoth when he was found dead on Tuesday. “She’s devastated,” a source close to the actress told People.com. The two met on the set of Brokeback Mountain, and were together for three years before breaking up last September. “He was absolutely in love with his daughter,” said another source. “He spoiled her rotten. He was playful and very funny with her.” The source added: “I can’t believe Matilda is going to grow up without a dad, without knowing her father. And that Michelle will have to deal with having a daughter who’s lost her father. She’s a survivor. She’ll make it, but it’s going to be hard. Her first concern is going to be Matilda.”

If she’s so concerned about her daughter, why did she give her a name that belongs to a 98 year old bulldog?

How callous can you get? You don’t bring young children into this kind of bashing! What’s wrong with you? I know I made a comment about od’s and dui’s but if it isn’t true, I will be eating crow. I, for one, hope these od claims are not true! For all we know it could have been a health issue that even he did not know about. Grow up! He was a good actor and I am sure he will be missed.

I hope your comment on od’ing isn’t true either, and I agree that he was a good actor and will be missed. I also hope that “Matilda” is just a nickname! I can’t imagine doing that to ANY kid!

for all you morons making fun of the name, it is a classic aussie name, so shut the hell up & be more respectful of this tragic situation

Get a freaking life. Matilda is a classic name with lots of history behind it. The world lost a stunning young talent and all you can do is poke fun at his daughters name? You should be ashamed of yourself.

Come on now, these new wave actors and actresses have been giving their kids weird names for a while now.

Kids are more resilient than we give them credit for. Michelle seems like a competent enough parent so I have faith that the two of them will eventually make it through this tragedy.

I think the name Matilda is a sweet, endearing name showing the affection he had to his home Country. FYI “Waltzing Matilda” is the National Anthem for Australia. I can just picture Heath dancing along with his sweet little girl singing “Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda, you’ll come a’waltzing Matilda with me…” /sniff makes me misty eyed. That little girl is the biggest victim in this whole affair, and she’s going to need support not a bunch o’ idjits making fun of her name. For the love of God she’s only 2 years old. Have some respect.

Matilda is a sweet name. You would be surprised how many Matilda’s are about. A lot of Matty’s and Tilleys are Matilda’s.

Besides that picking on kids in any manner is just not right. But everyone else on this site is fair game.

By the by where is Nancy?

Personally I don’t like the name at all, and would never give it to any child of mine, but what’s it to me what anyone else names their child? I just hope she is able to grow up knowing as much as possible about the Daddy who loved her so much.

The pill bottles were nearly full. Are you eating crow now, Karen?

  13. Karen • January 26, 2008 @ 1:40 AM

Doesn’t mean much yet does it? Could be brand new bottles and he finished off his old ones. Who knows? That’s what autopsy and toxicology reports are for! As I also said, if anyone bothers reading a whole paragraph….for all WE know, he could have had a medical condition that even HE did not know about……

  14. Arnold • January 26, 2008 @ 8:31 AM

The ? is do you look at the bottle as almost full or a long way from being empty.

The optimist Anonymous aka Dr. Watson believes it to be almost full.

The pessimist Karen aka Sherlock Holmes believes it to be a long way from being empty.

Thanks for the laugh….people take things too serious. Life is made to be full of possibilities. Unfortunately at times the prognosis is not good. You take the good with the bad.

his death was a shock to everyone, its understandable for michelle to be in shock. i hope that she has the love and support of the people around her so she has time to mourn this great loss. i wish her and her daughter all the best.
r.i.p heath, you will be greatly missed

Their break up wasn’t nasty was it? As far as I am aware, it was handled quite maturly between the two of them. That being the case, and the fact that she had a child with him, it makes perfect sense she’d be in shock. God bless them all.

    Three things to say.
    1.I feel sorry for Michelle
    2.Where is Nancy?
    3.Matilda is an alright name.

  20. SpotMatrix • January 27, 2008 @ 4:50 PM

Matilda sure is a helluva better name than Moon Unit Zappa don’t you think? I wanted to name my son Schnitzel Goobermyer but his mom disagreed with me. Go figure!?

In all seriousness.. I dislike my ex but if she passed away I would be saddened by it. I don’t wish death upon anyone no matter how I feel about their personality. Those who do should possibly seek help. Like the guy who thought of a story of two gay cowboys? What’s that all about? Did he get this idea from listening to too much Village People? Why not two gay wrestlers or two gay bikers? Of course this has no bearing on the actors. I didn’t see the movie nor have any desire to…. Sorry way off topic. I’m just babbling is all.

Waltzing Matilda is NOT the Australian National Anthem (it is “Advance Australia Fair”) Waltzing Matilda is about a Yabbo who steals sheep and then kills himself, Matilda is a very beautiful Australian name try not to compare her to the song though!!! It is sad about Heath Ledger, he was a fantastic actor that had been compared to such actors as Marlon Brando and Sean Penn! He was picky about his roles! Who knows what really happened, no one only Heath, himself, and perhaps we will never know! Lets leave it at that, why wreck someones name by associating it with drugs and drinking? Let his daughter be told of the great man and actor!
