Miley Cyrus grinding in steamy new video

The Parents Television Council is lashing out at Miley Cyrus over her new music video, “Who Owns My Heart.” In the video she’s rolling around on a bed and walking around in her underwear. She then goes to a club where she’s grinding with other women and older men. The Council says she’s sending “messages to her fan base that are diametrically opposed to everything she has done up to this point.” Once known for her good girl character, Hannah Montana, Cyrus has created a new image for herself. The video’s club scene can be compared to Britney Spears’ “I’m a Slave 4 U” video which got a lot of heat too, except Britney was 20 years old in that video, while Miley is still just 17. This isn’t the first time Miley Cyrus has released such a video. Her “Can’t Be Tamed” video received negative attention, and she was first criticized when she posed half-naked at 15 for the infamous Vanity Fair photo shoot. ~Chantelle Rodrigo

I think Disney stars purposely impose a sexy/slutty image on themselves in order to help them breakaway from their goody-goody image they’ve have for so many years. I think they think that this is the only they will be taken as a serious performer and not just ‘that little girl from the Disney Channel’.
Good for her, she is adapting. This is her job. She needs to keep up to keep the money coming in. There are new ‘Disney’ stars popping up (no pun intended) all the time. ROCK ON GIRL
Like any 17 year old she will continue to rebel against the stereotypes etc. etc. I personally didn’t really take offense to this video. The real issue I think that people have had is that she almost overnight went from child pop star to walking ’round in videos in shorty shorts and bras.
I wont compare Miley to Britney directly but I think Britney’s approach to her transition was more gradual and less in-your-face. She moved from Child star to dancing in a school girls uniform to where Miley is at now.
She’s a money machine, created for the Hannah Montana generation that she outgrew. Now the machine has been repackaged to give the public what it wants. Any negative press over her choices just helps to feed the machine. She’s a product, and we might as well be discussing a new kind of soft drink – some like the flavor, some don’t.
Not everyone can stay making music for kids, she’s growing up. Let her!
She is a terrible example of what a “regular 17 year old girl” is. How many impressionable girls will see this “transformation” and think that the only thing girls are for is sex. If she had true talent, she wouldn’t have to resort this garbage. Shame on her and shame on her parents for allowing this.
Kinda agree with that last post there. I find the video awkward… looks like you’re trying a bit too hard there little one (although it’s not as “wild” as some of her other videos I’ve seen). I hope she grows up quickly and gets over this stage cuz its getting old. Throwing your body around doesn’t make you look sexy, it makes you look cheap.

I think she looks more like 30 than 17. I doubt that the video concept was hers. As long as she does not take a cue from Lindsay Lohan she will be ok.

i agree with basically all the rest of the comments here. i was going to say as far as im concerned shes just rebelling because shes tired of being a “perfect little teen” for her hannah montana role. i see nothing wrong with what she is doing, its just an act.

At the same time, I agree with sam that the girl is growing up, and probably can’t keep making music for kids – she’s likely to do whatever she needs to break that good girl image that the public has of her, the public just has to accept that.

There’s not much I can say that has not already been said. I agree with the “negative” comments of some; like she is still too young to be flouncing around in her underwear,and doing bump&grind movements, with not only other women, but older guys too!It definitely gives the younger audience an o.k. that it’s alright to be Bi-sexual, and very “out” there. I’m surprised at her Father, for letting her do such “racy” videos. My parents would never have let me watch something like that, when I was 16 or 17! She has portrayed “growing up” much too fast!!
