Moana 2 continues to dominate weekend box office

Box office posters weekend of December 6Moana 2 featuring the voice of Auli’i Cravalho remained in the top spot at the box office for the second weekend in a row, earning an additional $52 million for a two-week total of $300 million.

Holding onto second place was Wicked, the movie adaptation of the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. It garnered an extra $34.9 million for a three-week total of $320.5 million. Click here to read our review.

Gladiator II starring Paul Mescal in third also remained in the same spot it held last weekend, taking in another $12.5 million for a three-week total of $132.7 million.

Red One, the Santa Claus spy thriller starring Dwayne Johnson, Chris Evans and J.K. Simmons, held onto fourth, adding revenue of $7 million for a four-week total of $85.8 million.

Rounding out the top five was the only new movie to make it into the top five — the action/thriller Pushpa 2: The Rule, which debuted with a take of $4.9 million for a total of $9.5 million since its early opening on Thursday.
