Modern Family star being abused

Young Modern Family actress Ariel Winter, 14, has been removed from her home by a judge after she claimed that her mother, Crystal Workman, had been inflicting serious physical and emotional abuse on her. Ariel, who plays the intelligent middle child, Alex Dunphy, on the ABC comedy series, has since been placed in temporary guardianship with her older sister Shanelle Workman and their mother has been ordered to stay 100 yards away from Ariel. Sadly, it has also been uncovered that nearly 20 years ago, Shanelle came forward with similar allegations of abuse against Workman and as a result spent more than two years in foster care, never returning home to her mother. Ariel is also reportedly seeking legal emancipation. Another hearing in this case is set for November 20. ~Brandon Bastaldo

Sad…just sad, that a mother would want harm to come to her child.

It is difficult to realize that we have Mother’s out there ,that will actually do this with their children. It infuriates me.
Ariel is such a wonderful young ladyanda terrific young actress, but her Mother may have already done damage her and her confidence. I find verbal abuse can really mess up one’s brain and social life. Counselling ,is the most important thing ,because if not treated Ariel’s life could lead to many terrible thing. She has to know that all of this her Mother’s fault and not hers.I can only wish her good luck and hope that she will seek help now while she is young.
I was a victim of verbal abuse for 15years, and it really did a number on me, and my self confidence. I didn’t have any.It took me a long time,to realize that I was a good ,kind ,loving person, and that was from my second husband whom was there to pick me up and convince me to move forward in my life, and it worked because we have been together for over 30 years. She will be in my thoughts and prayers

It’s disgusting that her Mother has abused her, I hope her Mother gets what she deserves., Both need to seek help. I hope this beautiful young girl grows into a confident lady and keeps love in her heart, not for her Mother but for others, Sending love, light and healing to this young girl,

Children’s Aid or Services (doesn’t matter which country) are a bunch of twits. This is one governmental area that should be looked into because they prove over and over again that they’re completely useless when it comes to protecting children. How could they take the older daughter out of the home and without even questioning whether they should think about the welfare of the other children in the house, leave the younger daughter there?

I’m so sorry this happened to her and I’m glad that her much older sister is around to be a support to her. I do have issues though with the comment about social workers being twits for leaving the younger sister in the home since the older sister was removed 20 years ago and the younger sister is only 14.

Unless the writer of that comment knows some miracle of math that I am unaware of I cannot see of any way possible that the social workers could have possibly removed both the older sister and the yet unconcieved younger sister. There is also no way that they could or would have followed up on the mother since the files follow the children not the mothers.

I agree counseling is a must for both the children and the parents including anger management because anger will be an issue at some point but also they need to be left alone to grieve for what they have lost. Because they have lost a lot. So I recommend everyone just back off and let them all grieve and heal as they need to and leave the social workers alone. They are grossly underpaid, under resourced, have to buy their own supplies, have at times over 5 or more times the work they should legally have on their caseload due to not enough workers, work in dangerous areas of the cities or states or provinces, and quite often have crazy clients that they are alone with without any form of protection. And that is not all of the story.

By the way since her older sister herself was abused I’m sure that she was watching for signs of it in her younger sister; so I am surprised that it did take so long. However, children are often loyal to their abusers so she may not have wanted to say anything.

I am glad she is out now and hope she finds hope, peace, wholeness, restoration, and everything else that she needs to walk out the rest of her life in dignity, joy, and fullness of life.

Abuse is disgusting and I would never condone it. What was it that the Mom did exactly? I’d be more comfortable commenting once the facts are presented and it is made public what the specifics of the allegations are. There’s a lot of people who presume she’s guilty without knowing, with any specificity, what the facts are….

boohoo cry me a river. Who gives a f*ck. There are children being abused far worse than this filthy rich slut. No one cares.
