Enchanted, starring Patrick Dempsey and Amy Adams, took over the top spot at the weekend box office, grossing $35.3 million (all figures US) for a total of $50 million since opening last Wednesday. Another new release, This Christmas, landed in second with $18.6 million. Last weekend’s number one film, Beowulf, dropped to third with $16.2 million for a total take of $56.4 million, while Hitman opened in fourth place with $13 million. Rounding out the top five was Bee Movie, taking in $12 million.
