MTV Movie Award nominations revealed

Who said it’s the end of award season? Just as the buzz from the Academy Awards settles down, MTV announced the MTV Movie Award nominations. Late-night host Conan O’Brien will host the fan-voted award show that will take place on April 13. Not surprisingly, a bunch of Oscar favorites were given a nod, including 12 Years a Slave, American Hustle and The Wolf of Wall Street. But fantasy lovers can jump for joy as The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire were added to the nominee list. The popcorn-shaped trophies are also honoring interesting categories like Best Kiss (remember the Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Adams‘ lip-lock in American Hustle?), Best Shirtless performance and a special #WTF moment. American Hustle and The Wolf of Wall Street lead the slew of blockbuster films with eight nominations each while Oscar-winning film 12 Years a Slave picked up four nominations. ~Marriska Fernandes
