Mufasa scares Sonic 3 off top spot at weekend box office

The prequel Mufasa: The Lion King rose from second place to take over the top spot at the box office this weekend, garnering an additional $23.8 million for a three-week total of $168.6 million.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which held the No. 1 spot for two weekends in a row, was knocked down to second place, earning an extra $21.2 million for a three-week total of $187.5 million.
Nosferatu, the tale of a haunted young woman (Lily-Rose Depp) and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her, held onto third place, taking in another $13.2 million for a two-week take of $69.4 million.
Moana 2 featuring the voice of Auli’i Cravalho climbed back up a spot to fourth, taking in an additional $12.4 million for a six-week total of $425.2 million.
Rounding out the top five was Wicked, earning an extra $10.2 million for a seven-week total of $450.7 million. Click here to read our review.
