Natalie Portman is a well-known name in the film industry, recently starring in notable films like Black Swan, for which she won an Oscar, and Thor. She also served as executive producer for her 2011 film No Strings Attached. Now she’s ready to venture into television. The actress will be co-producing a pilot for a one-hour drama series that has reportedly been picked up by ABC. The series will be based on Judith Krantz’s bestselling 1978 novel Scruples about a widowed socialite who opens her own “fashion forward” boutique in Beverly Hills. Working with Portman on the project will be Krantz’s son, Tony, who will serve as the show’s executive producer. The book was originally adapted into a miniseries in 1980 and starred Lindsay Wagner and Kim Cattrall. There’s no word yet on when the new pilot will air.
