Neighborhood Watch promo pulled after shooting

20th Century Fox has decided to pull the teaser trailer and posters in Florida theaters for their upcoming comedy Neighborhood Watch, starring Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn and Jonah Hill, out of respect for 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, who was shot and killed by real-life neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman in Sanford. The case has received national and international attention because Martin was a young, unarmed black man and Zimmerman, who maintains he was acting in self defense, has not yet been charged — many are slapping both Zimmerman and the Sanford police with allegations of racism. Although the film bears no relation to the tragic events and the timing is merely an unfortunate coincidence, the studio feels this is the right thing to do. “The movie, which is not scheduled for release for several months, was made and these initial marketing materials were released before this incident ever came to light. The teaser materials were part of an early phase of our marketing and were never planned for long-term use. Above all else, our thoughts go out to the families touched by this terrible event.”

It is a very unfortunate incident. But kids go hungry every day. Did they cancel the Hunger Games promos?

@?! Then you could say that about pretty much any movie. I think they did do the respectful thing. If they didn’t, it might have seemed like the were making fun of the horrible situation.
