Netflix picks up Longmire from A&E

Following the cancellation of the contemporary western series Longmire on A&E, viewers were understandably disappointed, but they’ll be happy to hear that Netflix has ordered a fourth season of the hit crime thriller from Warner Horizon Television. Ten new episodes will premiere exclusively in the U.S., Canada, Australia and New Zealand in 2015. “When Warner Horizon Television came to us with the idea for a new season of Longmire, we were intrigued because the series is so unique, and consistently great. We are thrilled to help continue Walt Longmire’s story for his large and passionate following” said Cindy Holland, Vice President of Original Content at Netflix.

Season 4 picks up immediately after the Season 3 cliffhanger, with Walt Longmire (Robert Taylor, pictured above) hunting down his wife’s murderer. In the cliffhanger, Branch Connally (Bailey Chase), the deputy who Walt fired for erratic, violent behavior, believed he had figured out the identity of the murderer. But during his confrontation with this suspected killer, a gun went off. Now the audience will finally learn what happened, and whether Walt can be stopped before he makes a fatal choice.

The series takes direct inspiration from the mystery novels by Craig Johnson. Walt Longmire acts as the main focal point of the series and viewers navigate through Big Sky Country with him as he adjusts to life without his wife. He leans on the support of his daughter and his friends, though harbors a deep-seated resentment and quick-temper.
