New Hunger Games trailer shows rebellion in full force

Katniss is back and fiercer than ever as the Mockingjay in the new, full-length trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1. The 90-second trailer shows reluctant heroine Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) after her narrow escape from the arena and the destruction of District 12, working with childhood friend Gale (Liam Hemsworth) and District 13 to take down the Capitol.

Katniss’ previous ally and fake love interest Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) has been captured by the Capitol and appears to be working for them, publicly speaking out against the rebellion. “Peeta is the Capitol’s weapon, the same way you’re ours,” says Haymitch to a distressed Katniss. Meanwhile Katniss, sure of Peeta’s innocence, only agrees to work with District 13 and become the symbol of the rebellion if they rescue him from President Snow’s (Donald Sutherland) clutches.

The trailer features some stunning action sequences, including a particularly stellar moment where Katniss knocks a jet out of the sky with a single arrow. It also includes some new faces, including Julianne Moore as District 13’s President Coin and Game of Thrones actress Natalie Dormer as rebel and filmmaker Cressida. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 hits theaters November 21. ~Kelly Townsend
