Alien: Romulus – While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe. This new installment takes place in time between the original film, Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986). Also playing in IMAX. Click here for showtimes.

Fede Alvarez, who directed Alien: Romulus, talks about his longtime love for the Alien movies and reveals why he used a young, unknown cast for this latest installment. He also tells which is his favorite creature from the movies.

Coraline 15th Anniversary –  A young girl walks through a secret door in her new home and discovers an alternate version of her life. On the surface, this parallel reality is eerily similar to her real life — only much better. But this adventure turns dangerous when her counterfeit parents try to keep her forever. But when he discovers a penguin drifting alone in the ocean, drenched in oil from a spill, his first instinct is to help. Close to You – Sam (Elliot Page) moved to Toronto from the small town of Cobourg. He finally decides to return home to visit his family for his dad’s birthday. It is on this trip where Sam can finally confront long-buried feelings with each of his family members, rediscover a first love that was never properly resolved, and a newfound confidence in himself. Elliot Page and director Dominic Savage discuss their movie Close to You, in which Elliot plays Sam, a transgender man who goes home for the first time to his family since his surgery. They tell how they chose Cobourg as a filming location and Elliot reveals which cast member he was closest to.

The Good Half – An emotionally distant writer (Nick Jonas) returns to his hometown for his mother’s funeral, after having spent years successfully avoiding his high-strung sister, bumbling but well-meaning father, and untrustworthy stepfather. Forty years after vanishing from public view, this 20th century icon finally gets her second act. Playing in Toronto, Montreal and Victoria; opens in additional cities starting August 25.
