Peter Dinklage in Cyrano. Photo by Peter Mountain / 2021 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures Inc.Cyrano starring Peter Dinklage is finally hitting theaters this weekend after being pulled last December when the COVID variant Omicron began to spread. The movie is a charming musical that’s very close to the original 1897 play by Edmond Rostand, with one exception — instead of having a large nose, Cyrano is of short stature. The change works beautifully and Peter Dinklage gives an award-worthy performance. Also opening wide is Studio 666, featuring the Foo Fighters, and two films opening in select cities. Cyrano – Poet Cyrano de Bergerac (Peter Dinklage) dazzles whether with ferocious wordplay at a verbal joust or with brilliant swordplay in a duel. Convinced that his appearance makes him unworthy of his friend Roxanne’s (Haley Bennett) love, Cyrano won’t declare his feelings for her. He faces a dilemma when another man asks Cyrano to write letters to Roxanne on his behalf. Click here for showtimes.

Studio 666 – The legendary rock band Foo Fighters move into an Encino mansion steeped in grisly rock and roll history to record their much anticipated 10th album. Once in the house, Dave Grohl finds himself grappling with supernatural forces that threaten both the completion of the album and the lives of the band. Click here for showtimes.

Unsilenced – When the Chinese Communist Party launches a brutal crackdown against 100 million citizens, a jaded American reporter teams up with a handful of innocent students to expose one of the largest human rights violations — that continues to this day. Opening in select cities. Click here for showtimes.

Scarborough – The lives of three children are explored in the culturally diverse Toronto community of Scarborough. We see their struggles, endurance, and resilience over the course of one school year as they grow up in a system that has set them up for failure. Opening in Toronto, Hamilton and Saskatoon this Friday; opening March 11 in Vancouver and Sudbury and on March 26 in St. Catharines. Click here for this week’s showtimes.
