The biggest release opening this weekend is Firestarter, based on the novel by Stephen King and the 1984 movie of the same name starring Drew Barrymore. Check out the synopsis and trailer below, as well as two smaller releases opening on Friday. ~Alexandra Heilbron
Firestarter – Charlie (Ryan Kiera Armstrong) is an 11-year-old girl with pyrokinetic abilities — she’s able to start fires when her emotions get the best of her. Her father, Andy (Zac Efron), tries to teach Charlie how to control her power, but her emotions get in the way at times, leaving the outcome unpredictable. He’s afraid that when people find out what Charlie can do, the government will take her away and lock her up in a lab so she can be studied. Click here for showtimes.
Vortex – Lui (Dario Argento) and his wife Elle (Françoise Lebrun) live in a small apartment in Paris. Lui, who has a heart condition, is working on a book about movies titled Psyche and Elle is a retired psychiatrist who suffered a stroke a few years ago. Their adult son Stéphane (Alex Lutz), the father of a small boy, is unable to help them out, due to his own problems with money and drugs, amidst a failing marriage.
