New movies in theaters – Marry Me, Death on the Nile & more!

Jennifer Lopez in Marry MeMore and more of the movies you’ve been waiting to see are beginning to roll out into theaters. This week offers three major releases and a number of movies playing in select cities, including two Oscar nominees. Marry Me – Music superstars Kat Valdez (Jennifer Lopez) and Bastian (Maluma), who recorded their hit duet “Marry Me” together, are about to get married in front of a global audience during a concert. Seconds before she goes onstage, Kat finds out Bastian has been cheating on her. Heartbroken, Kat makes a snap decision. She sees Charlie Gilbert (Owen Wilson), a high school math teacher in the audience and asks him to come up on the stage and marry her. Click here for showtimes.

Death on the Nile – Newlyweds Simon (Armie Hammer) and Linnet (Gal Gadot) are honeymooning on a river cruise when a murder takes place on the boat. Detective Hercule Poirot (Kenneth Branagh) is called upon to investigate and figure out who was responsible. There are plenty of suspects, including jilted lover Jacqueline de Bellefort. Blacklight – A troubled, off-the-books fixer (Liam Neeson) for the FBI who is tasked with pulling undercover agents out of dangerous situations finds himself in the middle of a deadly conspiracy when one such agent starts questioning the very people he’s working for. Our fixer must not only track down the agent, but also find out the truth — a truth that may strain his questionable moral code. Click here for showtimes.

The Beatles: Get Back – The Rooftop Concert – After several weeks of writing and recording new music for their new album, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr decide to play a last minute concert on the roof of their offices at Apple Corps in central London. Flee – Amin Nawabi grapples with a painful secret he has kept hidden for 20 years, one that threatens to derail the life he has built for himself and his soon-to-be husband. Recounted mostly through animation, we see the story of his extraordinary journey as a child refugee from Afghanistan. Nominated for three 2022 Academy Awards. Playing in select cities. Parallel Mothers – Two single pregnant women — Janis (Penélope Cruz) and Ana (Milena Smit) — share a hospital room. Janis, middle-aged, is thrilled. Ana, an adolescent, is scared and repentant. Janis tries to encourage her while they go for walks along the hospital corridors. The few words they exchange in these hours create a close link that changes their lives. The Worst Person in the World – Julie (Renate Reinsve) can’t decide what to do with her life. Finally, she decides to take up photography and meets and falls in love with successful graphic novelist Aksel (Anders Danielsen Lie). She moves in with him, but still feels restless. After meeting another man at a house party, she breaks up with Aksel. But Julie will discover that sometimes, life has unplanned surprises. Nominated for two 2022 Academy Awards. Compartment No. 6 – A young Finnish woman escapes an enigmatic love affair in Moscow by boarding a train to the arctic port of Murmansk. Forced to share the long ride and a tiny sleeping car with a larger-than-life Russian miner, the unexpected encounter leads the occupants of Compartment No. 6 to face major truths about human connection.
